7 Day Itinerary in Vienna, Austria


Day 1: Arrival and Orientation

  • Morning: Arrive in Vienna, check into your hotel.

  • Afternoon: Stroll around the city center, visiting Stephansplatz and St. Stephen's Cathedral.

  • Evening: Dinner at a traditional Viennese restaurant and a walk along the Danube.


Day 2: Historic Vienna

  • Morning: Visit the Hofburg Palace, including the Imperial Apartments, the Sisi Museum, and the Silver Collection. This was the home of Habsburg Kings, Emperors of the Holy Roman Empire and Austria. Today it is the residence of the president of Austria.

  • Afternoon: Explore the Kunsthistorisches Museum (Museum of Art History).

  • Evening: Attend a concert or opera at the Vienna State Opera.


Day 3: Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens

  • Morning: Tour Schönbrunn Palace, the summer residence of the Habsburgs.

  • Afternoon: Wander through the Schönbrunn Gardens, including the Gloriette and the Tiergarten Schönbrunn (Vienna Zoo). Built in 1752, it is considered to be the world’s oldest zoo still in operation where you can see such animals such as giraffes, orangutans, Siberian tigers, African tigers, elephants and so on.

  • Evening: Relax with a coffee and cake at a traditional Viennese café.


Day 4: Day Trip to Vienna Woods and Heurigen

  • Morning: Take a trip to the Vienna Woods and enjoy the walking and hiking paths, visit the Mayerling hunting lodge where a bloody incident took place and the Cistercian Abbey of Heiligenkreuz.

  • Afternoon: Explore the village of Grinzing, known for its Heurigen (wine taverns). Great for old town lovers and wine drinkers!

  • Evening: Enjoy a traditional Heuriger dinner with local wine and music.


Day 5: Time Travel Vienna and Retro Gaming Museum

  • Morning: Experience Time Travel Vienna, an interactive history tour through Vienna's past. Highlights include 5D cinema shows, shows about the Habsburgs, Mozart, World War II and more! Combine this with a VR Boat Ride!

  • Afternoon: Visit the Retro Gaming Museum for a nostalgic journey through the history of video games. See many consoles and games and try them out!

  • Evening: Dinner in the MuseumsQuartier, a vibrant cultural complex.

 

Day 6: Cemeteries and Local Culture

  • Morning: Visit the Central Cemetery (Zentralfriedhof), one of the largest cemeteries in Europe, known for the graves of famous composers like Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, and Falco and also actress Hedy Lamarr.

  • Afternoon: Explore the Prater Park and ride the famous Wiener Riesenrad (Ferris wheel).

  • Evening: Dinner at a restaurant in the Prater area.


Day 7: Departure
